our mission

Since 2003, Elephant-Human Relations Aid (EHRA) has been dedicated to implementing holistic solutions for human-elephant conflicts. We assess the diverse ways free-roaming elephants negatively impact people’s lives and livelihoods, and trial and apply effective measures to foster peaceful coexistence. Our ultimate aim is to safeguard elephant survival beyond National Park boundaries by employing strategies centered on harmonious living and habitat protection.

Desert-adapted elephants

Namibia’s desert-dwelling elephants are a unique population of African savannah elephants (Loxodonta africana africana) adapted to the extreme conditions of the Namib Desert. As an endangered species, their survival depends on conservation efforts to protect both the elephants and their habitat.
